COMMON NAME
Standardized: Mallow, Blue Mallow
BOTANICAL NAME
Malva sylvestris
Plant Family: Malvaceae
Traditional folk medicine recommended blue mallow to treat many ailments, including:
- with a dry cough
- difficulty in expectoration,
- in digestive disorders,
- constipation
- diarrhea
- stomach ulcers
- for mild catarrhal and larynx diseases,
- for wounds and ulcers,
- for rinsing the mouth and throat,
- for irrigation.
Preparation of the blue mallow infusion:
Pour two tablespoons of wild mallow flowers or leaves with one glass of boiling water, then set aside for 30 minutes and strain. We drink the infusion up to six times a day for 100 ml.
Preparation of mallow decoction:
Boil two tablespoons of dried mallow in 200 ml of water for 5-8 minutes.
Mallow macerate:
Four tablespoons of leaves or dried mallow are poured with 200 ml of boiled water. Let stand covered for 8 hours, strain. We drink like a brew.
The above mucus preparations are used in adjuvant treatment of influenza, strep throat, colds, bronchitis, inflammation of gastrointestinal mucosa and constipation.
Preparation for rinsing the oral cavity with mallow:
Mix 50 g of mallow, linden, yarrow and sage leaves. The whole pour a glass of boiling water and brew under cover for 15 minutes. Let stand for 10 minutes and strain. We use to rinse the mouth and throat in inflammation of the mucous membranes.
Regenerating mallow bath
A handful of shredded mallow leaves and flowers, and 3 or 4 tablespoons of linden flowers (or yarrow or chamomile flowers) pour two liters of boiling water in a pot and leave covered for an hour. Then heat to boiling (but do not boil) and pour the whole with herbs into the tub. The bath temperature should be between 36 and 38 ° C, and time between 10 and 20 minutes. The bath regenerates the skin, has anti-inflammatory and antipruritic effects.
